Our democracy is under attack from racist, anti-voter legislation -- and the only way to stop it is stalled in the Senate under Mitch McConnell’s abuse of the filibuster.
We need to let our senators know just how important it is to pass the Freedom to Vote Act without letting the filibuster stand in the way, and this upcoming recess will be one of our few chances before the 2022 elections.
That’s why we’re launching Freedom to Vote: Time to Act, a week of action to show our senators that we demand concrete progress in protecting our voting rights. We have events happening across the nation, including one in your area coming up soon.
Attending an event is one of the strongest ways to oppose this wave of state legislation restricting voting rights, and if we don’t act soon, every state might be subject to the same restrictions and far-right obstructions we see in Texas and Georgia.
We can’t sit back and watch our voting rights be stripped away from us by extremist legislators across the country.
The Freedom to Vote Act would ensure access to the ballot box, protect free and fair elections, and end partisan gerrymandering. Voting rights legislation has already passed the House and received majority support in the Senate to begin the process of passing the bill -- and the only thing standing in our way is getting that same majority to reform the antiquated filibuster.
