Dear Neighbor:
I’m pleased that last night, the House passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, the largest, long-term investment in our nation’s infrastructure in nearly a century. Democrats and President Biden delivered this massive, bipartisan infrastructure package that will create millions of jobs and help rebuild America. The bill now heads to the President’s desk for signature.
At the same time, the House advanced the President’s Build Back Better Framework, which will lower costs, create jobs, and cut taxes, while tackling the climate crisis and growing the economy from the middle out.
Addressing veteran homelessness in Los Angeles County has been a priority of mine since I came to Congress. No one who served our country in uniform should ever go without housing. This week, the West LA VA and community partners were able to help veterans staying at the San Vicente encampment find alternative housing options and clear the encampment. I’m pleased that the majority of veterans at the encampment are now either staying on the West LA VA campus, in hotels, or have found permanent housing. This was made possible thanks to the terrific work of VA Secretary McDonough, the West LA VA, County officials and community partners, and is a notable step forward in our efforts to house all veterans in LA County.

TOMORROW: Please join me for our virtual Conversations with Veterans event this Sunday, November 7th at 2:00PM PST! We will be hearing from local veterans as they tell their stories and share what their service means to them. Tune in live at facebook.com/RepTedLieu.
COVID-19 Updates
I’m pleased that, this week, the CDC officially recommended that children ages 5-11 be vaccinated against COVID with the Pfizer vaccine. This is a crucial step forward in the fight against COVID-19. Please see below for more information on children and vaccines, as well as updates on booster shots.
Vaccines for Kids
The Pfizer vaccine is over 90% effective at preventing COVID-19 in children. If you’re a parent with questions, please consult your child’s pediatrician, school nurse, or local pharmacist to learn more about the vaccine and the importance of getting children vaccinated.
After receiving the vaccine, your child may have some side effects including a headache and/or fatigue. This is normal and a sign that the vaccine is working.
Boosters
All COVID-19 vaccines – Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson – are now approved for booster shots. People may also receive booster doses that are different than their original vaccine. Please see below for booster dose eligibility in Los Angeles County.
