I am reaching out today to ask if you’ll consider splitting a donation between Michael Bennet’s re-election in Colorado and my campaign.

We’ve got no room for error in 2022. In an evenly divided Senate, we cannot afford to lose a single seat.

This week, a top elections forecaster downgraded this race — meaning they’re expecting it to be more competitive than before. There’s also a competitive GOP primary in Colorado right now because there are Republicans eager to try to take this seat back. So Michael has to build out his campaign right now and show that he’s prepared to fight back when Mitch McConnell and Republican super PACs spend against him in Colorado.

Will you split a $5 donation between Michael Bennet’s re-election and my efforts to help Democrats hold and expand the Senate majority? Losing a single seat means Republicans take back the majority, and we cannot afford that.

Michael Bennet is a fantastic colleague and leader who we need in the Senate.

When Ted Cruz was posturing for political points and trying to blame Democrats for a shutdown caused by Donald Trump, it was Michael who put our feelings into words by telling Ted Cruz to spare us the “crocodile tears.”

When the GOP obstructs policies to make our kids safer from the threat of gun violence, Michael stands up to them.

And this year, it was Michael Bennet’s proposal to expand the child tax credit that has helped lift so many families out of poverty. It’s estimated that it will cut childhood poverty in half just this year, and extending the credit for families is a core part of the Build Back Better bill.

Democrats cannot afford to lose Senator Bennet.

As I’m sure you agree, what’s happening in Washington has made it painfully clear how much we need to expand our majority. Republicans are blocking every attempt we make to do something about the threats to voting rights, our democracy, reproductive freedom and more.

But expanding the majority won’t be easy if we’re having to fend off serious Republican money in a state like Colorado next year. The best way we can prevent that is with early investments this year that will discourage national Republicans from playing in Colorado.

The truth is, to run any Senate campaign, you’ve got to raise millions of dollars. It’s absolutely sickening to me, but the grassroots movement we’ve built together is helping us change how that money is raised — and in turn, how our politics works. That’s why Senator Bennet is refusing to take a dime of corporate PAC or federal lobbyist money.
