As you may have heard, there are now two far-right candidates running against me in the race for California’s 8th District. One of them is best known for founding an anti-immigrant hate group called the “California Minutemen Party.” The second is anti-choice legislator who just dumped $100,000 of his own cash into his campaign.

We’re in the thick of it, John. So we set an ambitious goal of raising $25,000 before the end of the month to make a strong statement that we have the resources to go toe-to-toe with both of these guys. Can you help us out before the deadline?

Our volunteers in the field are hard at work closing the Republicans’ narrow registration lead in key communities. And we’re also seeing a shift in attitudes on the ground:

I’ve been in every town and city in this district from Mammoth Lakes down to Yucca Valley. People are ready for someone who will actually fight for this community and work to achieve health care access for all, secure funding to improve public education, bring 21st century jobs to our communities, and protect our public lands.

Even the Republicans I meet are fed up with the same-old far-right talking points and fear mongering that our opponents lean on for votes.

We can win this thing. But it starts by building a grassroots movement strong enough to fend off the attacks headed our way.
