It's finally here, friend: the bipartisan infrastructure bill is headed to President Biden's desk!

It took a long time to get this bill over the finish line. While this bill isn't perfect, it's an amazing start. It’s a bill that will put people to work. It's a bill that recognizes that we can't compete in a 21st-century economy with 19th and 20th-century infrastructure. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is the largest long-lasting investment in our country's infrastructure in a generation. With billions of dollars in funding, it will help communities across the country build back better and will lay the foundation for economic growth over the long haul.

This bill is BIG, team. Here are some of the highlights included in the package we passed in the House:

The largest federal investment in public transportation EVER, with $1.79 billion for Washington state;
Key funding for climate resilience;
Funding to rebuild crumbling roads and bridges;
High-speed internet access for EVERY American, with Washington state promised at least $100 million;
$39 million to help us fight wildfires across Washington;
$1 billion for culvert repair and recovery to help protect and recover salmon populations in Washington.

And so much more! I was proud to vote for this bill because when there's an opportunity to help the folks I represent you can always count on me to work to get it done.

But that doesn't mean our work here is complete. Too many folks are struggling to make ends meet and struggling with the cost of health care, child care, prescription drugs, and more. We still need to do so much more to reduce costs for working families, protect our environment, and combat climate change.

As we continue to move forward on this, I won't stop pushing for legislation that meets the moment -- because that's what the American people deserve.
