John, I’m so grateful to everyone who voted, volunteered their time, and donated to help Connecticut Democrats achieve some major victories in this week’s municipal elections.

Despite the attempts of far-right extremists to seize control of school boards across Connecticut, Democratic voters overwhelmingly turned out in towns like Guilford, Canton, and Coventry to stand up for our schools and win significant school board victories.

Together, we helped elect more Democratic women around the state. In Stamford, Caroline Simmons became the first woman to be elected mayor in history, and in Norwalk, 14 of 15 Common Council seats are now held by Democrats, 9 of whom are women.

We made history in Glastonbury where Democrats secured a 6-3 Town Council majority for the third time in a row, something that’s never happened before. In East Haven, Democrats won the Town Clerk’s seat which had been held by the Republicans for a very long time, and Democrats also gained seats in Avon, Simsbury, Enfield, Roxbury, and Tolland.

Hundreds of thousands of voters in cities like New London, Norwalk, and New Haven demonstrate that people in Connecticut continue to look to Democrats to lead.

While there were some disappointments — Democrats came up just short in towns like Danbury, Westport, and Derby — we have so many successes to be proud of right now.

Municipal elections are about local issues, and turning out voters means having one-on-one conversations with folks through knocking on doors, making phone calls, and getting involved in the political process. Thanks to support from this grassroots team, the Connecticut Democratic Party was able to build a comprehensive voter outreach program throughout this year.

Now, as we look ahead to the upcoming midterm elections where every member of the CT Congressional delegation is up for reelection along with Senator Blumenthal and the Governor’s seat, we must continue working together to connect with voters and defend Connecticut values.

Thank you for supporting Connecticut Democrats,

Nancy DiNardo
