John,
My home congressional district, Nebraska’s Second District, is currently represented by a Republican, but we also voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 election — which means that we’re home to a uniquely flippable Congressional seat. My name is Alisha Shelton, and I am running to flip this district blue and be Nebraska’s first African American Congresswoman.

If you agree that Nebraska is ready for a change, can you show that there is massive grassroots support for my campaign by becoming an early endorser today?

I’d love to tell you a little about me: I'm from Omaha, Nebraska, and am a proud graduate of Burke High School. I hold a Bachelor of Science from a historically Black university and two Master’s degrees. Currently, I’m a licensed mental health counselor in Nebraska, practicing primarily in Omaha.

Growing up, my mother made sure I knew one thing: if someone is in trouble, we stop and help them. That means that no matter what, if you need me, I will be there. This is what drives me at all times, whether I’m administering CPR to strangers, advocating for my patients, or fighting for legislation that will help Nebraskans.
I have faced much adversity in my life, but I never thought that my country or elected officials would turn their backs on hard-working folks like me — until I tried to talk to my Representatives in Washington, D.C., and was unable to directly contact a single member of Congress. That was the day I knew I would have to forge my own path to make the change I know we so desperately need.

I’ve had the opportunity to speak with folks in our district about the problems that affect them — from farmers struggling to keep their family farms afloat to students unable to access adequate internet to continue their education during the pandemic. When talking to Nebraskans, there has been a common theme: Washington is forgetting about the Heartland. Our elected officials here in Nebraska cave to special interests and forget about who they are representing, the people.
We are called the Heartland because we are the heart and soul of this country. Access to broadband connections, affordable health care, and good-paying jobs are the basic needs of Nebraskans, and our elected officials are failing to provide results.
That is why Nebraska’s Second Congressional District needs a Representative who will remember their roots, fight with their heart, and bring results to all Nebraskans. I am ready to be that Representative — that’s why I’m asking you to become an early endorser of my campaign to get us off to a strong start.

Every signature shows that our movement has the power to spread our message and flip this seat.
Thank you for joining me on this journey — with you by my side, anything is possible!
