Fellow Conservative,

It’s been a busy week across the country and on Capitol Hill:

  • Republican candidates swept Virginia with the help of concerned parents. And there were some inspiring victories in New Jersey too.

  • The Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the Texas Heartbeat Act.

  • The Senate held a vote to try (again) to federalize our elections.

  • OSHA officially released Biden’s unlawful vaccine mandate for private employers (scroll to the bottom for more on this).

  • Pelosi once again tried (and failed) to hold a vote on Friday for the Democrats’ multi-trillion tax, debt, and spending bill (often referred to as the reconciliation bill). It was a long day of political theater that stretched late into the evening—but Pelosi never managed to muster the votes for it. Take time next week to call your Rep. to oppose this bill, as Pelosi now plans to vote on it later in November.

  • However, Pelosi finally did get her vote on the trillion-dollar bipartisan "infrastructure" bill. At 11:27 p.m. on Friday, the bill passed by a vote of 228-206 (with the support of 13 moderate Republicans—without them, Pelosi's efforts would have failed). The bill is now off to President Biden's desk, where he will sign it into law and add $256 billion to the national debt. It is part one of two in his 'Build Back Broke' agenda.

Executive Director Jessica Anderson released this statement in response to the vote:
Tonight’s vote on the first part of the Democrats’ Leftist agenda is the most out of touch that Congress has been since the passage of Obamacare. Any member who votes for the infrastructure bill is effectively voting yes for the entire ‘Build Back Broke’ plan and the Left’s extreme agenda.

On Tuesday, parents in Virginia went to the polls in droves and pushed Republican Glenn Youngkin over the finish line to become the next Governor of Virginia.

Just as impressive, Republicans took back control of the Virginia House of Delegates and swept the statewide offices of Attorney General and Lt. Governor.

To put this resounding win in context, Joe Biden beat President Trump by 10 points in Virginia during the 2020 presidential election. In Congress, Democrats hold both Senate seats and 7 of 11 House seats in the Commonwealth.

Political ‘experts’ thought Virginia had become a stronghold for Democrats. They were wrong.

What happened?––there are two primary reasons.

  1. Parents reject critical race theory: Virginia has become a hotbed for parents protesting CRT, particularly in the suburbs like Loudoun County. It’s not surprising––parents don’t want their children to be indoctrinated in a racist and Marxist ideology. Read Executive Director Jessica Anderson’s op-ed on Fox News predicting this trend a day before Tuesday’s election.
  2. Voters reject the Biden agenda: Skyrocketing inflation, supply chain failure, border crisis, Afghanistan disaster, high energy prices, trillions in proposed spending and taxing, relenting woke rhetoric… Voters understand that the Left is failing the American people with one crisis after another. And they don’t trust Democrats to govern effectively with common sense.

Even in the deeply blue state of New Jersey, the Republican nominee for governor came within 2.5 percentage points from beating the incumbent Democratic Governor.

The message is clear––Americans reject the Left’s socialist agenda and their woke ideology.

On Monday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defended the Texas Heartbeat Act (SB 8) in the Supreme Court, marking the beginning of oral arguments for this case.

As a reminder, the Texas legislature passed the Heartbeat Act––a strong pro-life legislation that regulates abortions after roughly six weeks–– in May and Governor Abbott quickly signed it into law.

In September, Biden’s highly politicized Justice Department sued the state of Texas over the law.

During opening oral arguments on Monday, Jessica Anderson went to the steps of the Supreme Court to proudly support AG Ken Paxton, and to represent the millions of Heritage Action grassroots activists that stand for life and stand with Texas.

For too long, the Supreme Court has restricted the American people from enacting common-sense laws supported by the majority of Americans to protect babies with heartbeats and who can feel pain.

We must all stand with Texas in defense of babies with heartbeats.

On Wednesday, Senate Democrats tried to pass H.R. 4, a Leftist scheme to give President Biden’s bureaucrats in the federal government veto power over state election integrity laws.

Fortunately, Senate Republicans blocked this bill from getting a vote on the floor. All but one Republican senator––Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski––voted to stop this egregious bill in its tracks.

H.R. 4 would allow Biden’s politicized lawyers in the Justice Department to have veto power and overturn state voting laws they politically disagree with, such as extremely popular voter ID laws.

THANK YOU for all of your calls, emails, and support in making sure this bill doesn’t become law!

As anticipated, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) announced on Thursday an emergency rule for the Covid-19 vaccine mandate for private employers (read the rule here).

The mandate will go into effect January 4, 2021 and will apply to companies with 100 or more employees.

The mandate is a blatant abuse of power from the Biden administration dictating the personal medical decisions of millions of Americans. Congress has never granted OSHA the statutory authority to issue and enforce such a rule, and it must be opposed in court––state attorneys general, employers, workers, and individuals should sue OSHA and fight this unlawful order.

Additionally, OSHA allows Americans to comment on a rule. So make sure you let them know that this rule is unlawful!

This ruling sets a horrible precedent and paves the way for even more blatant abuses of power by the executive branch.

Case in point––there are media reports that OSHA is considering requiring the vaccine mandate for companies with fewer than 100 employees, which will encompass the vast majority of Americans.

The Biden admin continues their treacherous lurch towards authoritarianism.

There will be many fights ahead in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned!
