[link removed] [[link removed]]Dear John,
When I read the New York Times ’ lead editorial this morning, I almost spit out my coffee.
Democrats lost, they say, because… get this… President Biden’s agenda is too “ambitious.” And now they say Democrats should shrink the Build Back Better bill even more.
This. Is. Maddening.
Paid family leave for new parents is supported by 70 percent of Americans. 72 percent support allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices. Adding dental and vision to Medicare is backed by 82 percent!
The real problem is that so far Democrats have failed to deliver.
Now, we’re hearing from sources on the Hill that a group of corporate Democrats in the House are following the corporate media’s advice and blocking a vote on Build Back Better. If that happens, the whole bill could collapse.
We need to push back hard against these corporate Democrats and their friends in the mainstream media. That’s why we’re going into overdrive to push Democrats to pass Build Back Better now — without cutting out the popular parts of the bill that the New York Times is suggesting the Democrats should get rid of.
Will you rush a donation right now to help us fight back and pass President Biden’s agenda before it’s too late? [[link removed]]
Make a Donation [[link removed]]You know what would really bring working class voters back to the Democratic Party? Enacting an historic social, economic, and infrastructure agenda, and paying for it by taxing the ultra-wealthy.
But the corporate media have undermined Joe Biden’s agenda every step of the way by refusing to report on what’s actually in the Build Back Better plan and fixating only on the price tag. And now, they’re saying Democrats should abandon these ideas entirely.
If Democrats in Congress listen to the advice of the corporate media and turn against progressive policies, then we’ll lose what could be our last chance in a decade or more to make progress on these issues. Worse yet, we’ll be looking at Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell after the midterms and very possibly another term of President Trump after the 2024 election.
That’s why we’re mobilizing our millions of followers across social media to fight back against the corporate media and demand Democrats act now to pass President Biden’s agenda.
Please chip in to help us go big right now. Every dollar counts, and we can’t do this without you. [[link removed]]
Thanks for your support during this make-or-break moment,
Robert Reich
