CLARIFICATION Re: Huffpost Turkey Article

Dear Friends,

On Nov 4th we posted “Thanksgiving Without Turkey? A Valid Argument For Skipping The Bird,” a great article featuring our perspective by Huffpost writer Ellen Kanner.

However, it was brought to our attention that the article includes a promotion at the end of butter and whipped cream. UGH!

We asked Ellen to please remove that recommendation from the published article, but she explained that its inclusion was at the behest of her editor. She said she would share our concern with the editor; but so far it appears that the recommendation will remain.

We proposed this simple rewrite of the original:

“Worried you’ll miss that apocryphal post-feast tryptophan high? Fear not. Tryptophan, that essential happy-making amino acid, is also found in seeds, oats and something else enjoyed at that first Thanksgiving feast — nuts.”

We want our supporters and everyone to know that UPC is a totally animal rights vegan organization and that we would never knowingly promote the production or consumption of any animal products.

For our position on “dairy,” which we shared today with Ellen Kanner, please see:

We also shared this just released investigative report by Animal Justice on an organic dairy farm in British Columbia:

Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
United Poultry Concerns
