I joined 175 Members of Congress in an amicus brief defending the Second Amendment before the Supreme Court in the case of New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen.

For the last century, New York’s mandates have banned Americans from carrying a firearm outside of their home unless a public safety bureaucrat determines they have “proper cause.” I searched the Second Amendment, but I couldn’t find the phrase “proper cause,” all I saw was “shall not be infringed.”

If the Supreme Court sides with us and overturns unconstitutional “may issue” gun control laws, then for the first time in my lifetime, 86 million Americans will finally be able to access their Second Amendment rights in seven anti-gun states across the country.

With the rampant crime wave hitting blue states because of the defund the police movement and illegal immigration, now more than ever, it is critical that Americans have the right to self-defense. Just look at New York City, where they defunded the police and saw a 41% increase in homicides, a 19% increase in assaults with a deadly weapon, and an astounding 95% increase in shootings. Or look at Chicago, which has the strictest gun control and the MOST murders in the country.

The Supreme Court has an opportunity to uphold the Constitution and defend the Second Amendment in this landmark case.

I recently introduced the Stop AOC Act to stop Chuck Schumer and AOC’s new program that uses taxpayer dollars to foot the bill for funeral expenses that may or may not have resulted from a COVID-19 death. This new program is “cradle-to-grave” socialism at its worst. FEMA has shelled out more than $1.2 billion to 189,000 people out of the initial $2 billion earmarked for the COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Program. Even more funds were allocated to FEMA through the passage of the American Rescue Plan to allow the agency to continue operating this program until 2023, three years after the beginning of the pandemic.

Never mind that the average cost of a funeral is $3,000-$7,000, AOC’s FEMA program will give you $9,000. There has been little to no auditing of this colossal waste of money, and the program is ripe for abuse and fraud—even allowing illegal immigrants to receive taxpayer money.

This is just another blue state bailout, and coastal blue states like Maryland, New York, D.C., and California get almost 70% more money per COVID death on average than rural states like Colorado, Montana, Idaho, and New Mexico.

The left never lets a disaster go to waste. They continue to politicize COVID-19 through absurd mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and the continuation of frivolous programs like this one. American taxpayers should not be on the hook for billions of dollars because of AOC's radical, socialist agenda.

Joe Biden flew all the way to Glasgow for a meeting to discuss climate change and the Green New Deal with global elites and Greta Thunberg. You can tell that these world leaders really care about the environment—that’s why they flew 400 private jets to the conference.

Instead of traveling all the way to Europe to learn about the impacts of Green New Deal policies from global elites, Biden should have talked to some American workers. They could tell him about the 9,000 jobs Colorado lost in the oil and natural gas industry last year and how we will lose over 200,000 jobs if we keep his energy executive orders in place.

But Democrats aren’t listening to American workers.

If Biden really cared about American families, he would protect their jobs and American energy rather than taking our economy out behind the woodshed. It is not better for the environment to burn OPEC’s oil than American oil. It is actually worse since OPEC’s oil has to be shipped across the ocean, creating a risk of oil spills and other environmental hazards. We also have the highest regulations and standards in the world. Innovation associated with fracking and horizontal drilling is the main reason the U.S. was the world leader in carbon emissions reductions in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

I introduced a discharge petition on my Protecting America’s Energy Jobs Act to end this nonsense and allow Members of Congress to bypass Nancy Pelosi’s stranglehold on common-sense legislation and vote directly to nullify President Biden’s policies crippling American energy. America first starts with American energy.

My colleagues and I wrote a letter to Secretary Mayorkas, Attorney General Garland, and Secretary Becerra concerning the reports that the Biden regime is planning to hand out payments of $450,000 to illegal immigrants as a reward for breaking the law.

In Biden’s America, it is better to be a criminal than a military service member or law enforcement officer. Criminal aliens could get $450,000, but the families of the 13 service members Biden let die in Kabul only got $400,000. Criminal aliens don’t need to be vaccinated to get this money, but Border Patrol agents will be fired if they don’t take the vaccine.

If this plan goes through, it will be a disaster for border security. If you think we have a border crisis now, just wait until the word gets out that we are paying criminals for breaking the law. With promises like this, millions more illegal immigrants will flock to our borders to try to get a piece of the Biden pie.

After we called the Biden regime out for this outrageous plan, Biden walked it back, but his staff contradicted him. Who really even knows what is going on in this chaotic White House and who is actually in charge? I will keep monitoring the situation and hold Biden to his word to not reward lawbreakers.

Democrats don’t care that our border is open. They don’t care that our nation is crumbling. They just want to keep spending money that we don’t have on programs that do nothing for Americans. I will hold Democrats accountable and continue to remind them that we are a nation of laws. I will work hard to restore law and order to the southern border and to our communities.
