Friend,

It’s not just abortion rights that are under attack — in Republican-held legislatures across the country, bills attacking the transgender community are multiplying while Mitch McConnell blocks equal rights legislation at the federal level.

We need to pass comprehensive federal legislation to end legalized discrimination against LGBTQ+ Americans — we need the Equality Act .

Over the past few years, we’ve watched Republican legislators and governors purposefully enact laws to discriminate against the transgender community.

It’s time we protect every American’s civil and human rights. Being who you are and loving who you love should not come with fear of discrimination, violence, or death.

The GOP will never allow us to break their filibuster and pass the Equality Act — they’re too busy pandering to their far-right base and pushing Trump’s fear mongering agenda. That’s why it’s critically important we expand our Democratic majority in 2022 to gain the votes we need to abolish the filibuster once and for all and pass this bill.

But right now, we can’t let McConnell and Senate Republicans off easy. It’s unacceptable that they are blocking the Equality Act from coming to the floor for a vote. Add your name as a citizen co-sponsor of the Equality Act today — we can’t let Republicans hide behind the filibuster. [[link removed]]

We can’t lose hope in the face of Republican obstruction — let’s continue to further the fight for equal rights.

Thank you for being an important part of work.

— Tina
