John,
What happens when you or a loved one gets sick and you’re unable to work? Some employers provide paid sick days or personal days. But for millions of Americans, it creates an impossible choice between caring for a loved one and putting food on the table.
The United States is the only industrialized country in the world to NOT have a national paid family and medical leave program. And, in the midst of a global pandemic, nearly 3 million U.S. women have been forced to drop out of the workforce as families struggle to handle full-time jobs, sick family members, Covid quarantines and more.1
Tell your U.S. senators and representative that it is time for the United States to join the rest of the industrialized world and, for the first time, pass a national paid family and medical leave program for every U.S. worker.
TAKE ACTION
Whether it’s caring for yourself, a sick parent or child, or taking time with a newborn, every single working person in the United States deserves the dignity of paid time off when a medical emergency arises, or to spend time with a newborn during those crucial first months.
Paid leave would also help level the playing field for small businesses, with two-thirds of small business owners supporting this critical policy.2
With employers struggling to fill positions with skilled workers, we should give our economy and families a boost by finally passing paid family and medical leave―allowing millions of people to rejoin the workforce.
Send a message directly to your senators and representative right now, urging them to pass paid family and medical leave.
Right now, paid leave is included in the House version of the Build Back Better Act, which is expecting a vote any time. This is a critical component of making Build Back Better as big and bold as possible.
Thank you for fighting for the rights and wages of working people.
