“The chairman of the New York State Democratic Party is pushing a proposal that would essentially neuter almost all third parties, crippling one of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s biggest political nemeses but also potentially helping conservatives.”

The Green Party is the only third party in New York that runs its own candidates and consistently opposes the corporate and political power structure. 

It's no surprise that Andrew Cuomo wants to essentially ban all real opposition to the 1%.

Green Party ideas have entered the mainstream over the last half decade. From a ban on fracking after the Hawkins gubernatorial campaign in 2014 to the explosive growth of the Green New Deal, the Green Party has been at the forefront of change. 

We must keep the pressure on by running and winning races next year for State Legislature and Congress. But we need your help to defeat Andrew Cuomo's proposal first. 

Jay Jacobs, the co-chair of the NYS Democratic Party, is Cuomo's representative on the Campaign Finance Reform Commission. His proposal would quintuple the votes necessary to maintain official party recognition from 50,000 to 250,000. Instead of passing true campaign finance reform and increasing voter choice, Jacobs’ proposal will just be consolidating electoral power and in the hands of the two corporate parties. 

The Commission's recommendations will become law by the end of the year unless the legislature acts. We have to move fast to ensure this proposal doesn't become law.
