Announcement | Linda Smith appointed to the Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council to End Human Trafficking

John,

Sex trafficking thrives because there is serious demand.

This reality is not new to Shared Hope’s Founder and President, Linda Smith, who has been uncovering the dark underworld of the commercial sex market and fighting for justice for sex trafficking victims in the United States and around the globe for over 20 years.

Linda is a pioneer in the movement, founding Shared Hope International in 1998 while serving as a Congresswoman in the U.S. House of Representatives. She championed the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, bipartisan legislation that was reauthorized in 2017, which mandates the creation of the Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council. The Council is tasked with advising the Senior Policy Operating Group and the President’s Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking with the ultimate goal of ending human trafficking.

Today, we are thrilled to share that President Trump announced his intent to appoint Linda Smith to a two-year term as a Member of the Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council to End Human Trafficking.

Linda is honored to join the Council and looks forward to providing guidance that leads to true victim-centered justice, including proper protections and restoration for survivors.

Shared Hope focuses on bringing justice to victims of domestic minor sex trafficking and we’re excited to take another step toward correcting this injustice by serving on the Council. Human sex trafficking is a national epidemic that has no party affiliation. Bringing the traffickers, pimps and buyers to justice simply cannot wait.

We invite you to join with Shared Hope during this time of opportunity. There are many ways that you can make a difference in this fight today!

We must end demand now and protect victims of trafficking! Thank you for helping us get there.
