Hi team,
November is National Veterans and Military Families Month, and Veterans Day is coming up on the 11th. This month, along with Veterans Day, are days in which we honor and commemorate veterans for the sacrifices they have made to protect our democracy.
Our veterans walked into the unknown when they decided to join our military -- and unfortunately, when it comes down to them returning to everyday society, they are also entering the unknown.
It is no secret that we need to do more for our veterans. Congress has the power to do more by passing two of Antonio’s critical pieces of legislation -- the REACH Act and the MST Survivors Act.
The REACH Act would expand the Veterans Crisis Line through extensive training for call staff and overall improvements to the hotline for veterans in crisis. The MST Survivors Act would ensure that survivors of military sexual trauma get the deserved and needed comprehensive support through the Veterans Benefits Administration.
Thanks to Antonio, we’re another step closer to getting our veterans all the resources they need to thrive. Congress has the power to act now -- become a citizen co-sponsor of the REACH Act and the MST Survivors Act so they know that we simply cannot wait on helping our veterans.
Veterans are heroes to all of us -- and our heroes should not be wondering if they’ll have reliable health care, a job force to enter, or a place to live as they transition back into society.
Back in September, Antonio held a Veterans Support Forum in NY-19 in order to give veterans a space to lean on each other amidst challenging times. He was also able to hear stories directly from our veterans -- listening to their struggles of reintegrating into American life.
That powerful forum gave us firsthand experience and insight into the struggles veterans face every day -- experiences that most of us will never understand ourselves. That’s why we need to do all we can to get them the support they need -- whether that’s through hotlines and other outlets of mental health support, expanding employment opportunities, and more.
Antonio is beyond ready to help our veterans -- and we need to let Congress know that we’re right behind him. Become a citizen co-sponsor of the REACH Act and the MST Survivors Act now.
Thanks for standing up for our veterans, team.
In solidarity,
Team Delgado
