The elections on Tuesday were certainly a big disappointment.

Despite record turnout for Democrats in Virginia led by Black women and all the amazing support Team Plaskett gave at the end of the campaign, Terry McAuliffe still came up short.

This was a huge wake-up call for us. We need more people to vote for Democrats if we’re going to win, but we need to give people something to vote for. That’s why I’ve been working so hard on the Build Back Better Act which would make historic investments in communities and families in every corner and every territory of the United States.

But that’s not all. This election has shown that we need to get out there and make our case to voters about all the work we are doing to help our families get ahead. That’s why I continue to go everywhere - from Kentucky to Virginia! - to campaign with Democrats.
