Election results in Virginia, NJ could signal trouble for Democrats in Minnesota - KSTP
If you weren’t following the gubernatorial election results across the country on Tuesday, here’s a quick recap:
- Republicans flipped Virginia red for the first time since 2009 – a state President Biden won by 10 points in 2020.
- Democrats narrowly held the Governor’s office in New Jersey – a state President Biden won by 16 points in 2020.
For context, President Biden only won Minnesota by 7 points in 2020. I'll be honest, the results on Tuesday couldn't have been much worse. And that's an extremely troubling sign heading into the already uphill battle of next year's midterm elections.
After numbers came in, I called an emergency meeting to draw up plans to immediately double our early organizing program. Our fundraising team gave us a target of $25,000 to fund it – and as of this morning, we're less than halfway there.
John, after Tuesday, this expansion isn't a nice-to-have; it's a must-have. And unless we pick up the pace in a big way between now and midnight, we will come up short. If you can, please contribute $10, $25, $50 (or more if you can) to help us make up the difference.
Thank you,
