Primary Steele Dossier Researcher Arrested for Lying
From the story: Federal authorities on Thursday arrested Igor Danchenko, a Russian analyst who contributed to the discredited, anti-Trump Steele dossier. According to The New York Times, Danchenko was “the primary researcher” of the dossier, which compiled unfounded rumors about the 45th president in an effort to show he was “compromised by and conspiring with Russian intelligence officials” to help bring Hillary Clinton down. The document was then used by the FBI to illegally spy on the Trump campaign in 2016 ( Townhall). From Kimberly Strassel: Special counsel John Durham this week obtained an indictment of Igor Danchenko, a Russian who provided information for the dossier. Mr. Danchenko is charged with lying to the FBI, but the bigger story of the indictment is Democrats’ central role in every aspect of the dossier and the FBI investigation ( WSJ). From another story: “ Some of the material came from a Democratic Party operative with long-standing ties to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, according to the charges, rather than well-connected Russians with insight into the Kremlin” ( Washington Post). From the AP: According to the indictment, Danchenko repeatedly lied to the FBI about his sources of information and that deception mattered because the FBI “devoted substantial resources attempting to investigate and corroborate the allegations” in the dossier and had “relied in large part” on that research in obtaining the surveillance warrants ( AP).

President Biden Denounces Plan to Pay Illegal Immigrants $450,000, Infuriating the ACLU
From Katie Pavlich: Last week, news broke that the Department of Justice was getting ready to pay illegal immigrants, separated from others claiming to be family members, $450,000 each. After remarks at the White House Wednesday, President Joe Biden was asked about the plan. He said the reporting was “garbage” and that payments weren’t happening ( Townhall). From the NY Times: The remark was swiftly condemned by the American Civil Liberties Union, which is negotiating on behalf of the separated families ( The NY Times). From Chuck Ross of the Washington Free Beacon: ACLU’s big mad at Biden for dismissing reports that DOJ is negotiating $450k payouts to illegal immigrants. They say he must not have been briefed about negotiations his DOJ is conducting with ACLU ( Twitter). From Ed Morrissey: This episode demonstrates that Biden really doesn’t have a clue as to what is happening in his own administration. Biden either didn’t know about this settlement or forgot it so entirely that he couldn’t recall it when asked. This doddering performance is why Biden doesn’t take many questions from reporters in the first place, and why Americans have begun to lose confidence in Biden’s abilities ( HotAir). Then comes this: The White House on Thursday walked back President Biden’s comments from the day before that the administration would not be paying migrants separated at the border during the last administration $450,000 each, clarifying that the government would be willing to settle out of court with those families ( The Hill). From Guy Benson: Oh, so Biden got all huffy with @pdoocy over the WSJ report, calling it “garbage” and insisting such payments to illegal immigrants wouldn’t happen…but now the WH is walking back Biden’s cranky denial. Doing great! ( Twitter).

President Biden Weaponizes OSHA to Enforce Vaccine Mandates
From the story: The Biden administration said on Thursday that large companies have until Jan. 4 to ensure that their workforces are fully vaccinated under a sweeping new coronavirus health measure that will cover 84 million private sector workers, including an estimated 31 million workers who are currently unvaccinated ( The NY Times). From Fox News: Employers with more than 100 employees must ensure that all their workers are either fully vaccinated or subject to weekly testing and mask wearing. Fully vaccinated means that the employee has received two doses of Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech’s shots, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson’s shot. A ccording to senior administration officials, OSHA will assist employers to develop their vaccine and testing standards. Fines for willfully failing to comply with the mandate could reach as much as $14,000 per violation, with the potential for multiple citations per business ( Fox News).

Daily Wire Files a Lawsuit Against President Biden for His Mandates
From the story: The Dhillon Law Group, Inc. and Alliance Defending Freedom filed the legal challenge on behalf of The Daily Wire in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. The mandate requires all private employers of 100 or more employees to force unvaccinated employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, be subject to weekly testing, or lose their job. Attorneys for The Daily Wire will also file an emergency motion to stay the mandate ( The Daily Wire). From Kristen Waggoner: Lawsuit filed. More to come too ( Twitter). From The Daily Wire: “We’re not the enforcement arm of the federal government. Forcing Americans to choose between their livelihoods and their freedom is a grotesque abuse of power and we won’t be a party to it,” [Jeremy] Boreing said. “We will not incur the cost of implementing this testing regime. We will not incur the liability of inserting ourselves into the private health decisions and information of our employees. Our company was founded to stand against tyranny, and we will” ( The Daily Wire).

AOC Thinks Terry McAuliffe Lost Because He was Not Radical Enough
From the story: In a video stream, AOC acknowledges that Virginia was “a huge bummer” for progressives. She did go on to claim that “honestly, if anything, I think that the results show the limits of trying to run a fully 100 percent super moderated campaign that does not excite, speak to, or energize a progressive base and frankly we weren’t even invited to contribute on that race.” These claims from the congresswoman, a key member of the squad, are laughable. From the positions Democratic candidates took, to their endorsements, as well as having Democratic figures campaign for them, including Stacey Abrams, the Democratic ticket was arguably quite progressive ( Townhall). From Dan Crenshaw: Yes Democrats, listen to AOC. You aren’t radical enough… THAT’S the problem ( Twitter).
