When we said we’d fight for paid family leave until the ink was dry, we meant it — and we have great news.
Ayanna and our progressive movement just secured a critical victory: Paid family and medical leave are back in the Build Back Better Act.
We’re so grateful for our people-powered movement and the partners, organizers, and millions of workers and families who shared their stories and helped make the case that paid leave is the essential infrastructure that it is.
This was a hard-fought victory, but our work isn’t over yet. Conservative, corporate-backed Democrats like Joe Manchin continue to reject popular and urgently-needed policies. Care can’t wait — that’s why Ayanna is holding the line and won’t back down.
No one should be forced to make the impossible choice between caring for a sick loved one or a child in the hospital and keeping their job, so we can’t slow down now.
This victory is just the first step. And with your support, we’ll push paid family and medical leave and much more across the finish line.
