Dear John,
First, we want to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts. We are so grateful for every dollar you donated, every phone call you made, every postcard you wrote, every text you sent, and all the additional time you spent working with this team.
There are still races that are too close to be called, but we’re heartbroken that Democrats look poised to narrowly lose their majority in the House of Delegates, along with the statewide offices. We encourage you to take a look at Sister District’s preliminary analysis of the election, which includes some incredible volunteer metrics and shows just how close these races were.
Updates on the candidates we supported
We are thrilled to share that Briana Sewell won last night! Sister District volunteers made 75% of Briana’s early phonebank calls, and gave 41% of her early donations. She’ll be the first Black person to represent HD-51 and the youngest woman to serve in the Virginia House of Delegates. Unfortunately, Joshua Cole has lost his race for VA HD-28. Joshua ran a fantastic campaign, and we know he'll go on to do great things!
Despite the ups and downs, we stay in the fight because we are committed to making positive change and we know that our democracy will only remain intact and vibrant if we put in the work to maintain it. YOU make this community great -- thank you so much for everything you've done.
Please get some rest, thank you again so much --
Sister District DC/VA/MD Leaders
