I’ve been in this fight to allow Medicare with Big Pharma to negotiate for lower drug prices for a long time. It’s the right thing to do for consumers, taxpayers, and employers who are getting hammered by skyrocketing costs. And we are now closer than ever to getting it done.

This is big. This deal starts to break the iron grip that Big Pharma has on life-saving and life-extending drugs, allowing us to finally put a check on Big Pharma and their price gouging.

One-third of American adults who need medication don’t take it because it’s too expensive. This will help us finally keep prices down and get people the care they need.

This deal is far from what I had hoped for. But it is a big step forward. And we will fight Big Pharma another day to build on this important foundation.

This is an opportunity to finally lower costs for you and your loved ones as part of the Build Back Better plan. We’re so close to getting this done. We can’t waste anymore time if we want to deliver on our promises for Vermonters and people across the country.
