My friend,

Wednesday was a big day outside the White House, where civil rights leaders and youth activists, including our daughter Yolanda, rallied for the right to vote and many of us – Yolanda included – were arrested in an act of civil disobedience.

We can’t sit by and watch our chance to pass legislation to secure our precious right to vote – bills like the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act – slip away while President Biden continues to talk about voting rights but falls short on using the power of his office to pressure the Senate.

Our efforts are having an impact. In the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen the administration take a tougher stance on removing the filibuster as an obstacle to protecting voting rights. But we need more – and fast.

That’s why we at Drum Majors for Change, along with People For the American Way, the League of Women Voters, and others, were out at the White House this week and it’s why we’ll be back the week after next.

If you live in or near Washington, DC, or can travel in to join us outside the White House on Wednesday, November 17, please RSVP HERE >>

And no matter where you are in the country, please keep contacting the White House to let the president know he needs to lock arms with us in this fight.

Call today and tell President Biden to keep his commitment to our rights and our democracy. Tell him to LEAD by using every tool at his disposal to push the Senate to get rid of the filibuster as an obstacle to passing desperately needed voting rights legislation.

Click to call the White House between 11 AM – 3 PM ET on Tuesdays through Thursdays >>

We’re proud to have you with us in this fight. We can’t slow down now. Those of us from a long civil rights tradition know how fragile our democracy is… how the work to achieve and protect equal rights is work that demands ongoing vigilance. Together, we can win, and we shall overcome.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Martin Luther King, III and Arndrea King

Radical Right extremists are trying to turn back the clock on a century of advances in civil rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, the social safety net and more… they’re waging an all-out assault on the fundamental pillars of our country – democracy, checks and balances, a fair and independent judicial branch, and core values like fairness, equality, and justice for all.

People For is fighting back every day with:

✔ Grassroots organizing
✔ Lobbying and advocacy
✔ Research and education
✔ Voter mobilization
✔ And more…

But we can’t do this vital work without the robust grassroots financial support of our members and activists.

Please help fund the fight for progress and stand against right-wing extremism with an urgently needed donation to People For today>>
