HELP PREVENT DEVASTATING OIL SPILLS.

CLCV Member,

As you know, California experienced a devastating oil spill last month.

Roughly 126,000 gallons of oil spilled off the coasts of Huntington and Newport Beach, making this the worst oil spill in recent history.

Oil spills like this have catastrophic ecological, economic, and environmental impacts that can last decades.

We have an URGENT obligation to act now to prevent this from happening again.

Please rush a $10 donation (or more if you can!) to help put an END to these human-made environmental disasters →

Friends, here’s how we make sure oil spills like this never happen again:

  1. Hold Big Oil accountable for these disasters that wreak havoc on local communities and tighten regulations to ensure safety protocols are adhered to.
  2. Ban all offshore drilling immediately. That means we must stop new oil and gas leasing and permitting and shut down all fossil fuel extraction from our coasts.
  3. Transition to a clean and renewable energy economy. Oil spills like this are DIRECTLY connected to our ongoing dependence on fossil fuels and continued investment in oil infrastructure.

We are well aware that these action items are going to require a lot of work.  But the good news is that there are people in power right here in California working to achieve these goals!

State Senator Dave Min (SD37) will be introducing a bill in the next California legislative session that would end offshore drilling in state waters -- even for those under existing leases.

“The hard truth is that the only way to guarantee these oil spills will not occur is to stop drilling. It's a stark signal that we must transition away from fossil fuels to clean, renewable energy as soon as possible,” said Senator Min.

This is EXACTLY the kind of bold leadership that we need right now!

Systemic change requires bold action. Averting a major climate disaster in the next decade means getting to work TODAY.

We know exactly what we have to do,  but we need your help to get it done:

So please chip in a few dollars today to support our mission and become a part of our grassroots work to prevent another oil spill like this and to ensure a brighter climate future →

Thank you so much for empowering our work!
