Progressive ideas backed by progressive supporters are changing the face of politics. I’m proud to be a part of a campaign that isn’t just part of that change – we’re leading that change.
How does such a small operation as Ro Khanna for Congress have such a big impact on the political process? By making sure that our values guide our campaign. We reject money from PACs and lobbyists. We refuse to engage in quid pro quo deals. Instead, we focus on talking to our supporters, and having constituents and working families guide our ideas.
If we’re going to win progressive policies at the national level, we need to make sure every single part of our campaign aligns with the values we preach. We say we want to get big money out of politics, so we have to reject it from our campaign first.
In fact, Ro is one of only seven members of Congress who rejects all PAC money. And because of that, we leave an estimated $1.5 million on the table each campaign cycle. That’s a lot of money, and it creates a steep disadvantage for us, but I couldn’t imagine running our campaign – and authentically advocating for our values – any other way.
We might not raise as much as PAC-backed candidates, but I know we’re having a real impact, and setting an example of how campaigns can be won without sacrificing our values.
