Friend, November is Native American Heritage Month.
Indigenous peoples' knowledge, stewardship, and culture have contributed to this country in innumerable ways. This month is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate their voices in our communities.
It's also a time to do better.
Last month, I questioned Attorney General Garland on what actions the DOJ is taking to protect Indigenous women. The rates of violence against Indigenous women in this country — and in Arizona — are disproportionately high. It's an epidemic that the government has failed to address for years.
I demanded that the DOJ make a serious commitment of federal funds to cases of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. If you want to join me in this fight, you can add your name to my petition here >>
Thank you!
