Dear John,
As a father of five children, one of my greatest joys is to watch them grow up and chase their dreams. And yet, far too many children don’t have the freedom and safety to dream about their futures. They could be playing with their friends one day and sold into modern-slavery the next.

That all changed when he was 10 years old, and a cyclone hit his village. The storm destroyed his family’s home and took his father’s life. A trafficker who lived nearby was ready to capitalize on their family’s vulnerable situation, and it wasn’t long before Suriya was forced into slavery.
Suriya stopped dreaming about his future; he believed there was no way out.
