Hi John, my name is Jessie Buendia. As Michelle Romero — our former National Director of Dream Corps Green For All — transitions to a new role as Chief Programs Officer, I will be stepping in as Green For All’s new National Director. I am honored to have the chance to build on her success. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you why I am so excited to start leading the work we do here.

Why You Are A Green For All Supporter?

I come from a family of immigrants who moved to Iowa in the eighties. My family members were among the very few Spanish-speaking social service providers in the state, serving farm workers and workers in meat packing plants facing environmental and economic hardships.

Seeing the lack of opportunity that so many families face drove me to dedicate my career to ensuring that everyone can thrive in the American economy — no matter where they come from, or what they look like. 

I pursued degrees in public policy, developed corporate social responsibility initiatives, and most recently, led the implementation of California's climate equity programs serving the most disadvantaged communities as Acting Executive Director of California’s Strategic Growth Council.

All of it has been in the service of my commitment to making  America live up to its potential — a place where all can thrive and live in dignity. To me, that means building a future green economy that “lifts up all boats.”

To do that we need a strong focus on equity and building bridges across the political spectrums. 

That’s why I’m so excited about what we do at Dream Corps Green For All. We focus on the unfair, unequal ways the climate crisis affects different communities. And we aren’t afraid to work with unlikely allies in order to deliver real solutions for those who need them most.

We — all of us — have the potential to shift America’s future direction and start living up to the beautiful ideals of our country’s founding, while tackling the biggest existential threat any of us have ever faced.
