I have some exciting news to share with you…
Recently, another incredible champion of life joined the leadership team at Human Coalition as the Vice President of Development, Clark Costa

Clark and his wife, Alexis, and his son, Caston.
Clark brings a wide breadth of knowledge and experience to Human Coalition spanning 20 years in business development, strategic planning, project management, interactive marketing, and sales promotion. But most importantly, he brings an unmatched passion for the mission and a desire to build a legacy through his work at Human Coalition.
His story truly begins with his parents, Paul and Jan Costa. If you’re a football fan, you may recognize that name, because Paul was an all-star tight end for the Buffalo Bills and an All-American at the University of Notre Dame.
Paul accepted Christ late in his football career after years of being discipled by a teammate. When he retired from football, Paul went into ministry full time, planted a church in New York, and traveled around the world to share the gospel.
However, despite being the son of a pastor, Clark had no desire for ministry work growing up. And while he went to church, he didn’t know what it meant to have a real relationship with the Lord.
This all changed when he was 23 and accepted an invitation to go to a Bible study with his friends. That evening, he realized that he wanted an actual relationship with the Lord… he wanted Christ to be the Lord of his life.
“I really feel like the Spirit of the Lord hit me like a ton of bricks,” Clark recalled. “When I woke up the next day, I immediately felt like I was called into ministry.”
Clark soon developed a heart for New York City and stepped out in faith to move to the city and find a way to serve. During his nine years in New York City, Clark served on staff at multiple churches, and even when he wasn’t in full-time ministry, God led him to other opportunities to serve churches and spread the gospel through consulting.
Clark and his wife then felt led to move from New York to Texas in 2013 to be closer to family. After the move, Clark spent the next seven years in for-profit work – gaining valuable experience in project management, sales and inventory management, and overseeing large teams.
But the biggest impact in Clark’s life was his father’s diagnoses of cancer, which happened shortly after their move to Texas. After a year of fighting, Paul Costa passed away on October 12, 2015.
Losing a loved one – particularly someone you are close to – is never easy. It can change your life. It can cause you to question. And it can alter your perspective on the world.
This proved to be true for Clark as well. As he was going through his parents’ house the day after his dad passed, he remembers thinking to himself,
“This is what death is like. You leave your loved ones behind, and all that’s left is a house and a couple bucks in the bank. What is this life about?”
Then, his phone began flooding with messages.
Throughout the day, Clark received hundreds of texts, social media messages, and phone calls from people all over the world sharing about the impact his dad had on their lives. They shared stories of how entire families had been transformed because his dad shared the gospel with them.
“It was like God was talking to me and telling me, ‘This is what a legacy is supposed to look like. It’s not about the money, it’s not about the stuff, it’s not about how big your house is, it’s not about how nice your car is,’” Clark said. “From that point forward, my prayer became, ‘God, I want to leave a legacy.’”
Clark felt called back to full-time ministry but didn’t know exactly what it would look like. He appreciated his experience working in churches, but his real passion was to work on issues that would impact and change lives in the community.
So, he prayed. He prayed that God would open the right door at the right time.
After nearly six years of prayer, God opened the door at Human Coalition. And he quickly believed it would be the perfect fit.
“I’ve been incredibly passionate about the life issue. It was something that my parents instilled in me as a child,” Clark said.
“I think it really stems from my relationship with my dad and knowing that as a man and as a father, you have a duty to your children – to protect, to love, and to be there for them. For me, I look at abortion as the fathers not doing their job. As men of God, we are called to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and who’s more vulnerable than a preborn child?”
Clark went on, “I wholeheartedly believe that this is where God wants me.”
Clark’s excitement for this mission is so encouraging to me, and I can’t wait to be part of the legacy he will build through his work at Human Coalition.
