John,

In Colorado, the state Supreme Court just approved the independent Commission’s map giving Dems a 4 seat advantage, the GOP a 3 seat advantage, and creating one new Toss-up seat. Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report recently pegged Colorado’s newly created 8th District as one of the most competitive in the country
Unfortunately, not every state is like CO when it comes to drawing fair districts. While Republicans in states like Ohio, North Carolina, and Florida are pursuing some of the most aggressive gerrymanders in history, Democrats in New York and Illinois are fighting back with their own favorable maps to try and preserve some balance.

We can’t control what happens in every GOP-run state. But we can work as hard as possible to fight for and win this new toss up district in Colorado. And that’s what we intend to do.

CTP is one of only a few political groups in the state dedicated to fighting for a strong Democrat to win this new seat. Our work here could make or break our razor-thin majority in the House. We may be the only grassroots force standing between Kevin McCarthy and the Speaker’s gavel.
