Dear John,

Thank you for your friendship and support. I am excited to share with you that I am running for San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk.

I pledge to bring accountability, equity and transparency to this office to ensure that everyone, from big corporations to property owners, pays their fair share of real estate taxes. Afterall, this revenue source funds mental health initiatives, projects to fight homelessness, and other important programs that bolster our region and serve our most vulnerable residents.

I have spent my entire career fighting for more opportunities and representation for women in the workforce and would be honored to be the first woman to hold this San Diego County-wide seat.

You have been with me every step of the way, and I cannot achieve these goals without you. Are you willing to support our campaign by making a special campaign launch contribution today?

Below is a press release that our campaign sent out this morning. I would be honored to have your support again.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or suggestions.

With gratitude,

Barbara

Barbara Bry Announces Run for Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk

Bry Would Be The First Woman Assessor In San Diego County History

November 4, 2021 – Barbara Bry formally announced that she is running for San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk. If elected, Bry would be the first woman Assessor in San Diego County history.

“I will bring the values of accountability, equity and transparency to the County Assessor’s office to ensure that everyone pays their fair share of real estate taxes, and that whether you are a big corporation or a property owner, you receive excellent customer service and respect,” said Barbara Bry, a former San Diego City Councilmember, who chaired the city of San Diego’s Budget and Government Efficiency Committee and also served as President Pro Tem of the Council. “It’s important to remember that our real estate taxes support education, mental health initiatives, projects to fight homelessness, and other important programs.”

Bry also pledged to use her background as a small business owner in the technology sector to create a Technology Advisory Committee that will work to streamline public access to Assessor records. Bry is the first Democrat to announce, and her only announced opponent is endorsed by the Republican Party.

The responsibilities of the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk can be found here.

ABOUT BARBARA BRY
During her tenure on the San Diego City Council, Barbara Bry was the first elected official to demand an independent investigation into the botched 101 Ash Street purchase, which the city bought prior to her election. She also called for an independent audit of the Public Utilities Department when hundreds of customers received higher than normal water bills. This audit led to significant changes and customer refunds. Bry was the first Councilmember and the first elected official to stand up in support of the SDSU West ballot measure, because she realized that it could transform Mission Valley and our region.

Prior to serving on the San Diego City Council, Bry was an entrepreneur in the technology sector where she created hundreds of local jobs and balanced multi-million dollar budgets. She is the founder of Athena San Diego to empower women in the innovation economy, Run Women Run to elect more San Diego women to office, and the Workplace Equity & Civility Initiative that addresses pay inequity and sexual harassment. Currently, she serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Blackbird Ventures, which invests in early stage companies. She is married to entrepreneur Neil Senturia, and their blended family includes four children and their spouses, and seven grandchildren.
