It was a nail-biter, but New Jersey voters just delivered an important Democratic victory and kept our governor’s seat blue for four more years. I’m excited to see Governor Murphy build on the progress he’s made.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is, all of the warning signs from the past few months were right. Republicans have gotten their act together — and that spells trouble for our Senate majority.

Crystal Ball just shifted Mark Kelly and Raphael Warnock’s Senate races in Arizona and Georgia to “Toss-Ups,” and Republicans need to flip just one seat for Mitch McConnell to take back the majority.

After winning hard-fought, expensive special elections to give us the Senate majority for the first time in six years, Senators Kelly and Warnock have to do it all over again next year to win a full six-year term. That means rebuilding their resources to compete against what we expect to be record-breaking fundraising numbers from their GOP opponents.
