Friends -
Throughout the past four years, we did something special here in Wisconsin. We turned back the Republican tide that had washed over our state for nearly a decade. We did it by bringing together people from across this state with a positive vision for moving Wisconsin forward.
Tuesday night’s results in Virginia remind us just how important that vision is, and why we need to continue to fight for it, now more than ever.
While the pundits and talking heads debate and place blame, here in Wisconsin we’re getting back to work – because we know what’s at stake.
I decided to run for the Senate because I’m tired of politicians who only stand against each other in Washington – it’s time to stand FOR something. It’s time to bring people together from every corner of Wisconsin and remind ourselves that what unites us is far greater than what divides us.
Whether it’s a small business owner in Beloit or a farmer in Cadott, people want the same things: good schools for their kids, health care that can’t be taken away by insurance companies, farms that are run by our families and not corporations, and opportunities for good jobs right here in Wisconsin.
We can do that.
That’s what I learned from my parents – both union workers – who showed me what it takes to build a good middle-class life here in Wisconsin.
That’s why I’m running for the U.S. Senate, to make sure those same opportunities that existed for me exist for the next generation.
And that’s how I’m running my campaign, by building a statewide coalition – urban, suburban, and rural – because the only way we can tackle the problems facing our state and our nation is by doing it together.
Together we can be bold and make history once again in Wisconsin. Together we can tackle the climate crisis and create a new generation of renewable energy jobs. Together we can make universal health care a reality and open the doors of opportunity in every corner of this state.
Together we can confront America’s problems and focus not just on what is...but what can be.
So, if your dream is to be the first in your family to graduate college, let's make sure you can graduate debt-free. If your dream is to expand your small business to the open space next door, let's knock down that wall. If your dream is to pass your family farm on to the next generation, let’s make sure health insurance costs aren’t standing in your way.
No matter how big, no matter how small. No matter how many times you’ve been let down or told to settle for less. Those dreams are what make up America...
And together we can make the American dream an American reality – for everyone.
Tuesday night was a reminder of the challenges we face, but also why we need to face them head-on – with vision, boldness, and the commitment to moving Wisconsin forward – together.
