Pelosi's Resolution

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced late yesterday afternoon that the House will vote this week on an impeachment resolution. But it's not entirely clear yet what the House will be voting on. Asked by a reporter for clarification, Pelosi said ([link removed]) , "It's not an impeachment resolution."

So what is it then? Well, we don't exactly know yet.

Politico reports that "senior Democratic aides were struggling to explain the rationale" for the vote. The resolution will reportedly establish the rules for the process going forward, but it is still being drafted.

When past Congresses have decided to take such a drastic step as impeachment, the House has voted on a resolution authorizing the impeachment process. But that is precisely what Pelosi has refused to do ([link removed]) so far. And based on her comment to a reporter yesterday, she still isn't following the usual procedure.

As Brit Hume put it: "It seems the full House will now vote to authorize the next steps in [an] impeachment inquiry it never voted to start in the first place."

In fact, the only votes the House has taken on the issue with respect to President Trump so far have been AGAINST impeachment. (Here ([link removed]) , here ([link removed]) and here ([link removed]) .)

As we reported last week, Senate Republicans are considering their own resolution condemning Pelosi's impeachment charade. Perhaps that is why the speaker decided that the House needed to vote on something.

In response to her surprise announcement, House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy said that Pelosi's "backtracking is an admission that this process has been botched from the start."

Keep in mind that Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russians. So now Democrats are attempting to impeach the president for having a phone call with a foreign leader -- even though the Justice Department's Criminal Division already concluded that no crime was committed ([link removed]) .

This charade has gone on long enough! It's time for the American people to make their voices heard.

Call Capitol Hill now at 202-224-3121. Melt down the House phone lines, my friends! Tell your representatives that you oppose Pelosi's political persecution of President Trump.

The Year Ahead

Yesterday should have been a great day for America. Any decent person should have been able to say, "Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you to our special forces for ridding the world of such a monster." That should have been the default position of every pundit and politician. Sadly, it wasn't.

Here's what you need to understand about the year ahead: There is nothing Donald Trump can do, no matter how grand, on any challenge facing our country that will result in a single day of positive press coverage.

The progressives who control the American media will not disappoint the progressives who are hell-bent on destroying this president and all of us. The fake news media mean to drive this president from office by driving his approval rating into the ground!

As the old joke goes, if Trump walked across the Potomac River to save a drowning child, the headline in tomorrow's Washington Post would be: "President Trump Can't Swim."

By the way, we are learning more about the raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. U.S. special forces captured two ISIS fighters and seized a trove of valuable intelligence ([link removed]) . In addition, there was a second raid that also killed a top ISIS spokesman, Abu al-Hassan al-Muhajir, who served as one of Baghdadi's key lieutenants.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies across the country are taking additional precautions in the wake of the Baghdadi operation. I noticed beefed-up security at the White House today (see last item), and New York City is deploying extra manpower in preparation for the New York City Marathon this weekend. If you see something, say something!

Demonizing Police

Over the weekend, a number of presidential candidates attended the Second Step Presidential Justice Forum ([link removed]) at Benedict College, a historically black college in South Carolina.

Former Vice President Joe Biden was asked by one of the attendees, "If I were your daughter, what advice would you give me the next time I am stopped by the police?" Biden responded, "If you were my daughter, you'd be a Caucasian girl and you wouldn't be pulled over."

Translation: The police are discriminating against young black people, and they never pull over young white people for speeding, drunk driving or any other issues.

Not to be outdone, Sen. Bernie Sanders took it to whole other level with this response to the same question: "I would respect what [the police] are doing so that you don't get shot in the back of the head."

This is now the difference between a moderate and a radical in the Democrat Party. Both Biden and Sanders are intentionally stoking racial discord and hatred of the police. Biden does it by suggesting that police are discriminating against blacks, while Sanders does it by suggesting that cops are deliberately executing blacks.

Biden and Sanders should be ashamed of themselves. Their disgusting comments come at a time when there is a surge in police suicides ([link removed]) .

Again, I must ask independents, reasonable Democrats and my NeverTrump friends: Exactly how are either of these men and today's Democrat Party supposed to bring America together?

Trump's Crime Commission

While leading Democrats were demonizing the police and stoking racial divisions, President Trump yesterday addressed ([link removed]) the International Association of Chiefs of Police in Chicago. The president told his audience:

"You don't hear it enough: You do an incredible job . . . and the people of this country love you. . . Every day of my presidency, I will be your greatest and most loyal champion."

The president also announced that he was issuing an executive order ([link removed]) establishing a commission to examine "some of the systemic challenges that burden law enforcement." It is the first serious review of the criminal justice system in decades.

Among the many issues the commission will study, I was pleased to see this one: "The need to promote public respect for the law and law enforcement officers." Perhaps Colin Kaepernick, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders will learn something!

What a striking contrast! Democrats are fanning the flames of racial tension while the president is trying to come up with ideas to make minority communities safer.

At The White House

I joined approximately 20 faith leaders at the White House this morning to advise the president and, most importantly, to pray for him. We had a wide-ranging conversation on a host of issues we care deeply about.

My friends, your generous support is the only thing that enables me to do this important work. I promise to continue fighting the good fight for our values here in our nation's capital. Thank you for standing with me!
