James Carville: “Stupid Wokeness” Caused Election Losses

Carville may be a feisty liberal, but he is often the first to admit his side has big issues. He told Judy Woodruff of Newshour “What went wrong was this stupid wokeness. Don’t just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, look at Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Washington. I mean, this defund the police lunacy, this ‘take Abraham Lincoln’s name off schools, people see that” (Mediaite). From Dr. Albert Mohler: In the state of Virginia the big cultural issue was education and parental rights in education. That was an issue that wasn’t expected to be uniquely Virginian in this off year election, but it turned out to be. It turned out to be because issues of critical race theory and intersectionality, and especially LGBTQ issues, even down to transgender students and bathrooms, it turned out that parents really care about those issues. It turns out that parents really care about what is being taught to their children, and parents, even in a state like Virginia, which has declared itself red, then purple now, blue, it turns out that even those parents are offended when the former governor running to be governor again says that parents basically should have no influence in the public schools, no influence in the curriculum, no influence in the rules, no influence in the policies (Briefing). From Abigail Shrier: America’s parents should be TIME’s Person of the Year (Twitter). From Hugh Hewitt: Tuesday night’s big election wins for Republicans sends a message to President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats: “Stop” (Townhall Review).

Complete Unknown Is Frontrunner Against New Jersey State Senate President

From the story: New Jersey’s longest-running state senate president seems set to lose his seat his seat to a truck driver who spent only $153 on Dunkin and paper fliers over the course of his campaign. Democratic Senate President Steve Sweeney trailed Republican challenger Edward Durr, a commercial truck driver, by more than 2,000 votes as of Wednesday afternoon, with more than 99% of precincts reporting (NBC). From the Daily Caller: Durr has been critical of Democratic New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly Murphy’s decision to force nursing homes to accept COVID-19 patients, a decision which Durr says resulted in the deaths of 8,000 seniors in the state. He also says his opponent, Sweeney, spent 20 years doing little more than increasing taxes and the cost of living for New Jersey residents (The Daily Caller).

Virginia Lt Gov-Elect Winsome Sears Hits Back at Jemele Hill Who Credited “White Supremacy” For Win

Governor. “This country simply loves white supremacy” (Fox News). From Winsome Sears, complete with a picture of her with what appears to be an AR-15: We beg to differ (Twitter).

MSNBC Host Denies CRT is Real During Election Coverage

From the story: MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace declared on Tuesday that critical race theory “isn’t real” while roasting Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin during the liberal network’s Election Night coverage (Fox News). The video (Twitter). From Seth Mandel: I had to watch the video to make sure she actually said this, and holy moly she actually said this (Twitter). From National Review: Youngkin was endorsed by Trump, but he declined to campaign with the former president. Moreover, he has described the events of the January 6 Capitol riot as “sickening and wrong.” Nevertheless, Wallace insisted that the Youngkin “worshipped at the altar of Donald Trump on Fox News” and accused Youngkin of having flown “insurrection flags at his rallies.” A flag carried during the riot was used for the Pledge of Allegiance at a rally attended by Trump and Steve Bannon organized by a conservative radio host, not the Youngkin campaign. Youngkin did not attend, and released a statement calling the act “weird and wrong” (National Review). From Christopher Rufo: Under the Northam administration, Superintendent of Public Instruction James Lane sent a memo to Virginia public schools endorsing “Foundations of Critical Race Theory in Education,” calling it an “important analytic tool” that can “further spur developments in education” (Twitter). From Newsbusters: VA Election LIES: The media are lying about Critical Race Theory. CRT is taught in Virginia schools (Twitter).

Following Election Loss in Minneapolis, Leftists Threaten to Burn More Police Precincts

From the story: Unsurprisingly, the “defund the police” crowd in Minneapolis did not take their defeat at the ballot box too well after campaigning to entirely abolish the police department in Minnesota’s largest city amid rising crime that caused citywide warnings of carjackings to be issued last month (Townhall). From the blue checked Ashley Fairbanks: I’m just sick. I never would have guessed, standing outside that burning precinct, that all of this would end in people giving the Mayor and MPD their vote of confidence (Twitter).

Seattle Votes in Police Loving Republican as New Attorney General

From the story: Republican Ann Davison held a strong 58% to 41% lead in the race for Seattle city attorney, with returns Tuesday showing voters rejecting the brash language of her police abolitionist opponent, Nicole Thomas-Kennedy, in favor of Davison’s law-and-order stance. At one end stood Thomas-Kennedy, a former public defender who wants to ultimately abolish misdemeanor prosecutions. During the unrest that swept the city in the summer of 2020, she tweeted about her “rabid hatred of the police” and pronounced property destruction during times of protest a “moral imperative” (The Seattle Times). From Hot Air: As extreme as she was, Thomas-Kennedy had a real shot at winning the race, in part because local Democrats endorsed her and in part because her opponent Ann Davison was a Republican (Hot Air). From King 5: Davison believes the City Attorney’s Office is not for setting policy or a “place for radical agenda.” It is a place to provide impartial advice to those elected to create policy and to maintain laws so there is public safety (King 5).
