All tests carry some anxiety, but standardized tests are in a class by themselves. High hopes, parental expectations, and stiff competition to get into the school or college of choice can make the stakes seem overwhelming. Likewise, broad subject matter on tests like the SATs or ACTs can make studying hard to navigate, especially for kids who struggle with time management and executive functions.
This week on childmind.org we’re taking a deep dive into what parents can do to help tone down anxiety and support smart, effective study skills. With the right preparation and reasonable expectations, you can help your child do their best.
