Ten months ago, it was unthinkable that Republicans would stomp Democrats
on Election Day 2021.

But last night, Virginia lost the governorship, and New Jersey’s governor
race is too close to call.(1) Republicans picked up a congressional seat
in Ohio.(2) Municipal elections across the country swung conservative.(3)

If we don’t turn things around starting right this minute, we’ll lose our
slim majority in Congress -- and progressives including Rep. Katie Porter
are sitting in some of the most vulnerable seats.

[ [link removed] ]Courage California is kicking off its campaign to reelect Katie Porter,
expand the Democratic majority, and strengthen the Progressive Caucus in
Congress -- can we count on your support?

Listen, we get it. The 2020 election to defeat Trump and the Republican
majority was exhausting. And the Courage community just recently made a
Herculean effort to defeat the recall of Governor Gavin Newsom.

We know the last thing you want to hear about is another election, but the
extremist right wing is already looking to build on its wins and is
implementing plans to defeat us now.

In California, ballot initiatives are in process on private school
vouchers, union busting, and Voter ID -- surefire issues to draw
conservatives to the polls.(4)

And at the national level, the GOP and corporate Democrats are working to
defeat President Biden’s agenda and demonize the progressives, including
Rep. Porter, and they’ll use it against our representatives on the
campaign trail.

Courage California is going to play a pivotal role in the upcoming
election. We’re already working on endorsements for our Courage Voter
Guide, which was used by hundreds of thousands of voters last year. And
right now, we’re planning our budget that we will need to help organize
the tens of thousands of volunteers it’s going to take to make contact
with every possible voter and make sure they vote progressive.
