By now, you’ve probably seen the results of last night’s gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey.

I’m proud that Democrats re-elected Phil Murphy in New Jersey. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the outcome we’d hoped for in Virginia.

This is a wake-up call for Democrats everywhere. We can’t risk complacency going into next year’s critical midterm elections. In the face of right-wing radical extremism, it’s more important than ever that we elect real leaders who will deliver for our communities.

This is the moment to get energized, John. This is the moment to show our commitment to the values we share: among them, the beliefs that women’s rights are human rights, that the truth is always more powerful than lies, and that our democracy is worth fighting for.

We can’t let Trumpism or the far-right’s misguided policies take hold anywhere next year, including here in North Carolina.
