“We need to re-think in 2021, going into 2022 and beyond, what we think of as an electable candidate.”
Last night, Julian Castro made an appearance on MSNBC and he talked about the lessons Democrats can take from the VA election for governor:
“We need to re-think in 2021, going into 2022 and beyond, what we think of as an electable candidate. There has been a lot of oxygen spent blaming the progressives suggesting that perhaps our best bet is always a centrist candidate. I think we need to re-think that...we need to get the base out and get them excited.”

WOW, John, we literally saw Julian Castro’s words come true in Virginia last night. And this is exactly what defines our race right here in Ohio. It’s why Morgan is running and it’s why all the naysayers are dead wrong. Morgan is exactly the candidate Ohio needs in 2022.
Can you make a donation right now so that Morgan’s fresh and proudly progressive campaign can have the resources we need to bring much-needed change to Ohio?

Some folks say Morgan is “too progressive”, “she’s not palatable”, “a Black woman could NEVER win this state.” Quite frankly, John, that’s exactly the type of thinking that will cause us to lose Ohio to the far-right, anti-immigrant, anti-science Republican opponents we’re up against.
In Ohio, we saw a wave of progressive newcomers and Black candidates dominate and out-perform expectations. In Cleveland, Justin Bibb just won the mayoral race. In Lima, Sharetta T. Smith is now the city’s first Black mayor. In Dayton, Shenise Turner-Sloss is now the city commissioner. In Cleveland Heights, Kahlil Seren became their first mayor, beating out his more moderate opponent.
We don’t have to shrink ourselves, put aside our progressive beliefs, or center the same old candidates. It’s clear — the status quo is out.
Can you donate $5 right now to help us dominate our 2022 Senate race, John? Even if the establishment is against us, the people have spoken and they’re ready for bold, progressive leadership.
Onwards,
Team Morgan Harper
