Right now in North Carolina, the GOP-controlled state legislature has signaled that they plan to pass maps that split up urban areas and ignore the population growth in the Latino community.

What’s happening in North Carolina is part of a pattern -- one that ignores the 2020 census data and puts conservative politicians ahead of voters. First, it was Texas. Now, it’s North Carolina and Georgia too.

Conservative map drawers will not stop until they have manipulated enough maps to gain a House majority in 2022. Luckily, our window of opportunity to stop them is not yet closed -- we can still ensure the maps are fair by holding map drawers accountable and passing the Freedom to Vote Act.
