Jack, last night Democrat Terry McAuliffe lost to the Trump-endorsed extremist candidate, Glenn Youngkin, in a narrow victory for the Virginia Governor’s seat. Virginia was 10+ points for Biden in 2020, so this defeat is all the more worrisome. We can’t assume New Mexico is a safe Democratic state. Can you be one of [30] donors to chip in $15 right now to fight against complacency? We cannot sit on our laurels after a night like last night.
Everyone should be on high alert that this has happened. Glenn Youngkin ran on conspiracy theories, spouting that the 2020 election was a ‘Big Lie.’ Those theories stand in direct opposition not only to New Mexicans but to the American people as a whole. Our nation was founded and built on democracy. Our elections are free, fair, secure, and true. We know because we see Maggie fighting every day to make elections more accessible to everyone in New Mexico.
Though Virginia had a devastating defeat, New Mexico experienced record turnout in what people call an “off-year” election. That is in no small part thanks to the work Maggie does in Santa Fe to protect voting rights for everyone in our state.
If we want to stop Donald Trump and far-right extremism from winning in New Mexico next year, we have to re-elect Maggie and send her back to Santa Fe as New Mexico’s Secretary of State. But she’s up against Trump radicals and GOP billionaires with dark money and deep pockets.
