Virginia hasn’t elected a Republican governor since 2009, but yesterday, they flipped the governor’s seat, electing a Trump-endorsed candidate and Republicans down the ballot. Following the loss in Virginia, political rankings have moved Michael’s Senate race closer to being a toss-up. Give me a moment to explain how we see things here in Colorado, then pitch in $10 to overcome the National GOP and defend Michael’s seat.

Virginia’s elections are tucked in between presidential and midterm elections. Pundits and forecasters see the enthusiasm and turnout in Virginia’s races as indicators about midterm performance. Glenn Youngkin’s 2-point win yesterday represents a 12-point swing from President Biden’s 10-point win in the state last year. Political pundits and pollsters are saying that a swing like this in Colorado would put Michael’s seat and our entire 50-50 Senate majority at risk.

As Michael’s campaign manager, I never considered this seat safe because no seat is safe in Colorado in a midterm year (Remember: the last time Michael won in a midterm year, he won by only 1.7%). Now that the National GOP has flipped Virginia, raised over $75 million to flip Michael’s seat and the Senate, and has the pick of eight right-wing candidates here in Colorado, your support is extremely critical.

Please pitch in $10 — or whatever works for you — to defend Michael’s seat, keep Colorado blue, and protect our 50-50 Senate majority.

Michael has been delivering big for Colorado families: from the expanded Child Tax Credit, which has helped 1 million Colorado kids to securing a path to a historic investment in Colorado’s infrastructure to fighting for wildfire and climate change mitigation. Michael’s legislation kept 3 million kids out of poverty this year nationwide.

And that work is powered by grassroots support from folks like you — not corporate PACs or federal lobbyists. So your support in light of Virginia’s election results and this race moving closer to being a toss-up will make a huge difference.

Please, donate $10 to help invest in the campaign infrastructure it will take to fend off attacks, re-elect Michael, and protect our majority.
