Dear Morris County Democrats,
Last night's election results were not what we had hoped for. Last night was a very difficult night for Democrats nationwide and statewide and our county was no different.
First, I am confident that once all ballots are counted over the next few days, our Governor, Phil Murphy, will win re-election. We all need to be patient until each and every vote is counted.
Secondly, I want to thank each and every person who put their name forward in a pandemic to run for office this year. It is never easy to give up one's personal life for a campaign but this year was especially challenging. A congratulations is due to those who won, and to those who lost, keep in mind that Abraham Lincoln himself lost a number of state and local races before getting elected as President.
Thank you to those who volunteered, whether knocking on doors, making phone calls, texting friends and neighbors, or writing postcards. Thank you to those who donated and to those who continue to donate to us monthly.
This year's election also shows the urgency of passing the Biden Infrastructure and Build Back Better plan, so that we can show tangible results to our voters from having Democratic control of the federal government.
The results also show the urgent need for us to get involved now to help Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill and Congressman Tom Malinowski in their re-election efforts next year and to help us continue to build the party in advance of next fall's midterm elections.
Thank you for all you do to support our party! Chip Robinson
