John --
In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a contribution to my campaign for United States Senate in North Carolina. Let me explain why this request is so important:
We’re facing an all-important fundraising deadline on Thursday. It will decide whether we have the resources to build the kind of campaign that can stand up to Mitch McConnell and Thom Tillis’ network of dark money groups and super PACs -- or let them buy this Senate seat again.
I’ve seen it happen far too many times in North Carolina, and I don’t want to let them get away with buying another election in 2020. That’s not how our democracy should work.
These dirty tactics are exactly what's wrong with our politics -- and it's why I refuse to accept a single dime from corporate PACs. Instead, I’m relying on folks like you to help build a winning campaign that can overcome the kind of political corruption we see running rampant in Washington.
I’m running for Senate because I’m frustrated by the influence of special interests in our elections and our government. I know you are, too. The system is fundamentally broken -- and we need to do something about it. So, I’m asking:
Will you make a contribution of $10 or more before our critical end-of-month deadline on Thursday? Our campaign is refusing to take any money from corporate PACs that fuel the corruption in our government. Anything you can give would make a meaningful difference.
Three consecutive polls show this race is winnable because the people of North Carolina are fed up with politicians who don’t work for them. They’re sick and tired of leaders who do the bidding of wealthy corporations and special interests.
I’m sick of them, too. We all deserve better from our elected officials, and I’m running to be the independent voice you deserve in Congress today.
Thanks for reading. And thanks for all you do.
