John —
I have long fought for victims of
domestic violence and I wanted to make sure you saw this recent
NBC Bay Area news story about my legislation demanding transparency
on the failure to prosecute felony domestic violence cases in San
Francisco.
You
must watch this. We received data directly from the San
Francisco Police Department that clearly shows that the District
Attorney’s office isn’t filing cases involving domestic violence, and
even when cases are filed, the DA often reduces charges or even drops
them all together. We demand to know the truth about what is
happening and why.
"If he thinks lack of
prosecution is the answer, I'd like to know why," said Stefani. "I
think it’s incompetence - the fact that these cases are being brought
to him and not charged and no interventions made."
Make
sure you check out the story on NBC Bay Area’s website to learn more
about my attempts to demand transparency out of the District
Attorney’s office.
Thank you for your support as I
continue to shine a light on the public safety issues that San
Francisco is facing today. I won’t stop advocating for domestic
violence victims and all victims of crime.
Warm
regards,
Catherine
