Great News! Republicans Glenn Youngkin, Winsome Sears, and Jason Miyares won in Virginia and more! Amazingly, newly elected Governor Youngkin had just 2% name recognition at the start of his campaign!

Election Day Recap
Topline:
- Election night 2021 was a total rejection of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats’ extreme, socialist agenda.
- Major Republican wins on election night show voters are tired of Democrats’ government overreach, divisive policies, and agenda that has burdened hardworking families.
- Republicans focused on issues that matter to families and voters in all communities: education, keeping our communities safe, rising prices, and bringing back jobs.
- Democrats in Virginia tried to run solely against President Trump and their strategy backfired.
- Republicans are in a strong position for wins across the country in 2022 including taking back the House of Representatives and Senate majorities.
- In the words of Kamala Harris, “What happens in Virginia will in large part determine what happens in 2022, 2024, and on.”
Virginia:
- Glenn Youngkin, Winsome Sears, and Jason Miyares made waves in a state where a Republican has not won statewide since 2009.
- Glenn Youngkin will receive more votes than any Virginia governor in history.
- Winsome Sears is the first Black female Lieutenant Governor in Virginia’s history.
- Cuban-American Jason Miyares is Virginia’s first Latino Attorney General.
- Republicans flipped at least 7 seats to have the House of Delegates split at 52-48.
- This was the first election in which Republicans netted House seats in Virginia since 2013.
- Virginia House Democrats had netted a total of 22 seats over the last three election cycles.
- It’s important to remember Virginia is a blue state and this sweep is historic.
- Biden won the Commonwealth by 10 points last year.
- Congressional Districts – especially in the Virginia suburbs – have been trending blue over the last decade.
- The RNC was invested in the race with over 100 staffers on the ground, 13 Victory offices, and over 5 million voter contacts with our data-driven grassroots infrastructure.
Other Republican wins:
- Despite being a deep blue state, the New Jersey Governor’s race is still too close to call.
- Joe Biden won the Garden State by 16 points in 2020.
- The voters of Ohio-15 elected Mike Carey, a veteran of the Ohio National Guard, and rejected Nancy Pelosi’s socialist agenda in Congress.
- Republicans have won all three statewide judicial races that have been called in Pennsylvania.
- In Pennsylvania, Republicans flipped the Westmoreland District Attorney seat and swept the countywide slate, as well secured key flips in Luzerne, Erie, and Northampton at the local level.
- In New York, Republicans won the newly created 5th District of the State Supreme Court seat.
- Minneapolis voters rejected a ballot provision that would have reimagined the police department.
- Texas Republican Joh Lujan flipped HD-118, a district Biden won by 14 points and is 73% Hispanic.
- Last month, Representative-elect Lujan headlined the RNC’s community center grand opening in San Antonio.
- Republicans flipped the Rochester, New Hampshire mayoral seat. Paul Callaghan, a law enforcement official is the first Republican mayor in the city since 2005.
