John,

In April of this year, the CEO of McDonald's, Chris Kempczinski, sent a text message to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot where he blamed the murders of 13-year-old Adam Toledo and 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams on their parents.

Text from McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot: Tragic shootings in last week, both at our restaurant yesterday and with Adam Toledo. With both the parents failed those kids, which I know is something you can't say. Even harder to fix.

Kempczinski's text accusing these parents of failing their children is HIS failure to the victims and to our community. His message was ignorant, racist, and unacceptable coming from anyone , let alone the CEO of McDonald's, a company that spends big to market to communities of color and purports to stand with Black lives.

ENOUGH. Demand Kempczinski sits down with McDonald's Black and brown workers and community leaders in Chicago to tell us what his plan is to address systemic racism at McDonald's and beyond! [[link removed]]

McDonald's CEO's comments make it clear what the company thinks of people of color. For nine years, McDonald's workers have been speaking out about racial discrimination faced by the company's cooks and cashiers across the country, but instead of listening to our demands, the company has fired workers who try to organize for better pay and better working conditions.

McDonald's could be a leader, and this has to start with the CEO listening to workers and communities of color in Chicago and beyond.

Demand McDonald's meet with workers and the community. [[link removed]]
