I’m sure you’ve seen the results from last night’s election in Virginia by now. So, if you have a moment, I hope you will give me a chance to explain what this race means for upcoming elections across the nation — and why your support is more crucial than ever.

Last night, Virginians elected a Trump-endorsed candidate as governor in a state President Biden won by 10 points. It was the first time Democrats lost a statewide election in Virginia since 2009.

Political pundits have already begun to re-evaluate the upcoming midterm races, identifying several of my Democratic colleagues’ races as “toss-ups” and increasing the GOP’s chances of reclaiming the Senate majority.

Mitch McConnell was watching last night’s results, too. There’s no doubt in my mind that he sees an opening to reclaim the Senate majority and fulfill his promise of dedicating “100%” of his focus to blocking Biden’s agenda — and he only needs to flip one seat to do so.

Folks, I’m not telling you this to scare you, but with so much work still ahead, I want to ensure that we’re doing everything we can to invest early to protect our majorities and continue making progress for working families. I know firsthand that building a strong foundation early can make the difference between winning and losing, so I have to ask:

Will you chip in to help our campaign prepare for the tough fights ahead and protect our fragile Senate majority?

We can’t allow McConnell to reclaim the majority next year and block our progress. But we must come to terms with the hard truth that McConnell and his allies could easily squeak by if we do nothing to stop them.
