** I'm no fan of "Extinction Rebellion," but this...
------------------------------------------------------------
Euro News ([link removed]) (10/28/21) editorial: "The private airport that Extinction Rebellion protesters blocked last week is on the official COP26 list of places to fly to. Delegates arriving in the UK for the climate summit from ‘red list’ countries are being directed to seven airports, including two that cater exclusively to private jets. Farnborough Airport in Hampshire was targeted by XR activists on Saturday, who are calling for an end to the polluting flights chartered by “the world’s super-rich elite of celebrities, oligarchs and business leaders”. The demonstration...threw a spotlight on the expensive airport which 30,000 private jets pass through each year...“Activists from frontline communities have faced endless visa and vaccination delays, preventing many from getting to COP26. And yet the British government is encouraging delegates to fly in on climate-busting private jets. “It’s
shameless pandering to the rich and will only lead to an exclusive, one-sided COP that marginalises the global south.”...A COP26 spokesperson said: "If we are to deliver for our planet, we need all countries and civil society to bring their ideas and ambition to Glasgow. Sustainability is at the core of COP26. The UK will be offsetting all carbon emissions associated with running the event and working closely with sustainability experts to do so.” The organisers added that they had encouraged all delegates to consider low-carbon travel options and advised on the use of train travel."
** Securing oil deals at a climate conference instead of issuing leases on U.S. federal land. Bless his heart.

** "I guess I shouldn't apologize, but I do apologize for the fact that the United States, in the last administration, pulled out of the Paris accords and put us sort of behind the 8 ball."

Don't quit, Special Envoy Kerry. You're the gift that keeps on giving. Take your quote for example...
** The Washington Times ([link removed])
(11/1/21) editorial: "Team Biden had to play defense Monday after suffering a self-inflicted dent to his reputation ahead of the U.N. climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland, when he urged other major energy producers to pump more oil. Climate czar John Kerry insisted there was “no inconsistency” between the administration’s aggressive climate change position and Mr. Biden’s effort to persuade OPEC and Russia to open up supply amid a global energy crisis. “It’s just not inconsistent,” Mr. Kerry said in a conference call with reporters. “If it were, if he were asking them to boost their production over five years, I’d quit. But he’s not. He’s asking them to boost production in this immediate moment.”"
China is a major threat. Period. Full Stop.
** The Epoch Times ([link removed])
(10/27/21) editorial: "“China’s strategic emphasis on low-carbon energy has captured the attention of U.S. analysts, prompting some to call for a commensurate focus on the space stateside,” according to the report, which was released on Oct. 26. “Though China indeed has invested heavily in what the International Energy Agency (IEA) calls energy transition minerals (ETMs), produces more solar panels than any other country, and is quickly scaling its battery production, China’s energy appetite is decidedly omnivorous,” the report states. “While it has ramped up on ETMs, solar panels, and batteries, China has never wavered from its quest to secure the fossil resources that constitute the overwhelming majority of its total energy mix. China’s soaring oil and natural gas demand has catalyzed a policy of increased resource production.” As a result of its increased energy production, China “now routinely encroaches upon the waters of other South China Sea littoral states, such as Vietnam, the Ph
ilippines, and Malaysia. Despite international rulings against its behavior in the region, China’s expansionary pursuits have only intensified in recent years, jeopardizing the shared global interest of a free and open Indo-Pacific.”"
The Taliban are getting the hang of this governing stuff very quickly. They know a good politically sanctioned grift when they see one.
** Daily Mail ([link removed])
(10/31/21) editorial: "The Taliban has shown its support for anti-climate change efforts, calling for international aid to help complete environmental projects in Afghanistan. Citing a need to protect the country’s ‘fragile climate’, Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen said ‘tremendous work’ was needed to help Afghanistan become greener. The Taliban regime, which came into force in August, will not be represented at Cop26 as it is yet to be recognised internationally. And he stressed that the Taliban – which formerly targeted international contractors – was ‘committed’ to ensuring their safety. Mr Shaheen said: ‘Afghanistan has a fragile climate. There is need for tremendous work. ‘Some climate change projects which have already been approved and were funded by Green Climate Fund, UNDP, Afghan Aid, should fully resume work.’"
Why We Fight
** Wall Street Journal ([link removed])
(11/1/21) editorial: " We shouldn’t be surprised. There’s been a social revolution in this country and the wider West in the past 50 years in which, by a remarkable inversion, the left—which used to represent the interests of the outsiders, the disadvantaged—is in almost total control of the institutions of the establishment. They are the masters now. And like masters through most of history—from tribal chiefs to Roman patricians, absolutist monarchs and totalitarian tyrants—their superiority is such that the rules they make don’t apply to them. They apply only to you, the unenlightened. You’ve seen it already in simple acts of hypocrisy such as President Biden driving through Rome last week in an 85-car motorcade to show up at the Vatican for a meeting in which he and Pope Francis solemnly pledged to fight the “climate crisis.”
Or in the spectacle of tens of thousands of people flying into Glasgow, staying for weeks in comfortably warm, well-lit hotels through a darkening autumn, sustained no doubt by a stream of finely produced victuals. Never in the field of human confabs was so much salmon smoked by so many for so few."
