First, these results are consistent with a political environment where Republicans could comfortably take back both the House and the Senate in 2022.
Hey there,
By now, you’ve likely heard the news:
In yesterday’s elections in Virginia, Republican voters turned out in droves to elect a new right-wing Governor hand-picked by Donald Trump. In New Jersey’s election, their Democratic Governor is in a dead-heat race with his Republican opponent.
I have three takeaways from last night’s elections:
First, these results are consistent with a scenario where Republicans could comfortably take back both the House and the Senate in 2022.
Second, there are insights to be gleaned from yesterday’s election that can help us avoid another sweeping Democratic defeat. One of those is that choosing a candidate who can appeal to voters in the left, right, and center by championing widely popular and progressive politics is key. Choosing the right candidate in a primary election is critical to Democratic success.
Finally, Democrats in Wisconsin must register, mobilize, and commit their friends and family to voting in the 2022 election. Republicans have clearly worked to excite their voters and turn them out to the polls — we need to be doing the same, or we risk losing everything.
Here is my ask to you following last night’s elections: Reach out to your friends and family who don’t normally vote and get them registered. Then, follow me on Facebook and Twitter to make certain progressive voices won't just be heard in Wisconsin in 2022 — they'll win.
It’s time for a new kind of leadership in Wisconsin. Gillian built her career on integrity, advocacy, and action, and she’s ready to put that skill set to work in the U.S. Senate! It's going to take all of us working together to defeat Ron Johnson to get her there, but if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand.
